MWR Strategic Planning Committee

A Message from our Strategic Planning Chair.

Dear MWR Chapter Leaders, Members and Future Leaders,

I would like to take this time to introduce myself as your NAWIC Midwest Region Strategic Plan Chair!! I am a Project Assistant with Benike Construction in Rochester, Minnesota and have been in the construction industry for only 6 short years.  I joined the NAWIC Southeast Minnesota Chapter 346 in February of 2014.  After 1 very short year, I was “voluntold” I should become our Chapter President. Fast forward 3 years and I now have served as Vice President, President for 2 terms, and now am serving as Immediate Past President, along with serving on multiple committees.

I truly believe you get as much out of NAWIC as you want to.  However, having your chapter able to provide you the opportunities and experiences that interest you will help your involvement in this fantastic organization.  That is why I decided to Chair the Strategic Plan Committee.  Having a goal and a direction for your chapter is vital to the success and sustainability of your chapter. Now I’m not an expert in strategic plan by any means, however, I am willing to learn as I go and help you all along the way!

If I could have my way, I’d have every Chapter go on a weekend retreat like the Kansas City Chapter did in the summer of 2018, and crank out your Strategic Plan in one weekend.  However, that’ not realistic.  I’m hoping by taking baby sets through this process I can help each and everyone of you, no matter how big or small your chapter may be.   All you need is an interesting direction and people will follow you and stay with you. 😊

We all know the purpose of NAWIC… “to enhance the success of women in the construction industry.”  But what’s your Chapter’s purpose?  What’s your Chapter’s drive to be successful in getting new members, retaining members and continuing the path of successful women in the construction industry?  That’s why I’m here.  I’m here to give you the steps to figure this out.  Now I’m very open to suggestions and feedback so please feel free to reach out to me at any time, and if I don’t know the answer, we have the FANTASTIC National Strategic Plan Chair right in our region that I can ask. 😊
